Running out of Puff

Of course I should have know that making a puff quilt is quite an intensive process, but it is taking much longer than expected. The making of 100 of these little puffs has taken up quite a bit of sewing time. I do love the night/day garden thing going on with these two fabrics however.

As the pile of puffs grew, it became more obvious that these are fiddly quilts indeed. Here's a hundred puffs waiting to be sorted into some kind of order.

I think that if I even do another of these I will make the puffs larger and maybe not so puffy. I used 5" squares on top and 4" on bottom so the puffs are quite high. I also was a bit random about the fabric, I just pulled pieces I liked out of the stash and cut as many squares as I could.

Which made sorting out the final quilt design a little tricky, and well random...

After much shuffling I decided to go with this design, I think I would have liked more black in it but like I said I just used what I had... Once the puffs are sewn into rows they do take on a bit of a different feel, only three rows so far.

Hoping to finish the rows and then the columns and then the backing tomorrow so I can move onto the next big project, the bassinet make-over!
