Its all in preparation

A quite and slow weekend for us (again) nigling colds and me being eight months pregnant is leading to more and more of these of late. The man is off doing a supermarket run now, so at least the cupboards will be stocked for the coming week!

I took some time yesterday to make a start on my cloth baby wipes stash, I imagine I'll be needing a few more than seven, but it is a start.

And they are so simple to make the only reason I stopped at seven is a ran out of terry toweling. In another piece of synchronicity this purple toweling was one of Xander's baby towel. Nine years on! It is a little on the threadbare side so I backed it with some super soft flannel and wipes here we are.

I love the way the terry creates a little fringe around the edge of the flannel. I decided to turn the endges in a top-stitch hopefully to reduce fraying in the wash.

This super cute dotty comes from the stash, it has been around for some years so I was happy for it to have found a home at last. I believe I brought it with the intention of making nappies way back when, but then decided it was too cute or something like that anyways.

And the rainbow was just enough from a scrap to back the last piece of toweling... it may have been a scrap from for pj's a few years back but I can't be sure...

However the mist exciting craft development of the day is the long knitted baby bolero has made it to make-up stage! I started this way back in February and it really is fair to say I am not a natural knitter, I think this is the first time I've attempted to follow a pattern and I'm not sure I did follow it so well at all!!

As you can see the knitting is a bit dodgy! In a couple of spots I had to pop in a little pleat so the piece would fit together. I do really like the yarn though, nothing like a rainbow to brighten a day. The pattern was for 3 month size but something didn't work and it look more like 12 month!

Unfortunately, the excitement was somewhat short lived as I still have a boarder to do and that may take sometime yet. The boarder is all on 2.75mm needles and for some reason these give me RSI must worse that the 3mm needles I used for the main sections, go figure. However the end is within sight, it should be possible if bubs is on schedule. As I have loads of yarn left I am thinking about a matching beanie (and booties if I get super into it) but we will have to wait and see how long that motivation lasts!!!
