A sweet purring kitty to add to the crazy characters destined for the school market. I realise that I am sorting through some ideas with all this trying to find the unique character that is easy to reproduce and cute enough to be a real seller. I think I may have to accept the fact that sale ability is not a driving force of creativity and just get back to going with how the fabric speaks to me.
So onto something that is a little less loaded with intention, having come to the conclusion that t will be quite freezing here when the baby arrives in three weeks (or around then when its ready) I thought a cute but warm wrap was needed.
I picked up the gorgeous orange velvet at Savers sometime ago and have loved it but not quite know what to do with it until now. I followed the perfect corner blanket idea of a smaller square of the orange and a large square of the patterned fabric, so it serves as edging but also as a second side for the blanket.
I however am not a perfect sewer and more corners and edging turned out a bit wacky...
Still the lovely warm colours should go someways towards keeping bubs warm and cosy and there is something oh so satisfying about making a baby blanket in under an hour.
I have grand plans to make a far more complicated blanket or quilt with applique and all sorts of loveliness but I think that one may have to wait till after the arrival as I'd love to incorporate bubs name but as we are not 100% sure of gender I don't want to jinx myself, that and the current front runner for the name might turn out to be wrong once we can finally see and hold the little bundle.
