There is something about a clothesline filled with nappies, yesterday was super windy here so I harnessed the power to dry a line full of nappies after pre-washing them in preparation for the upcoming arrival.
I took a full clothes line and every last peg to dry this hoard of nappies, They are all pocket nappies, I brought a big bunch of cheapies from ebay and then I was gifted a whole lot more from my generous workmates. My intention was to supplement the cheapies with a few fancier ones but with over 50 of them now I think I'll have to make sure they work! I have purchased two better quality ones, the paisley minky one and a super cute tigger one.
It certainly made for quite a sight, the whole line full of nappies. After school my son's friend came over for a play and the two boys found the sight from the bedroom window something quite astonishing. I was informed that it was very embarrassing to have nappies on the line...
Looking at the nappies, I have suspicions that they are truly multifit, they look enormous when you think of the size of a newborn. So I found a free pattern for a newborn "all in 1" nappy here. I wiped it up in a fleece and interlock combination, using an old towel as a soaker.
I'm not sure I have put the elastic in well enough to be truly effective, a better quality elastic may be called for. However it should be a much better fit for a newborn. I have to say the purple velcro is really one of the most exciting sewing notions I've found recently! I have 25 yards of it so may get over it before its done but it is so cute!
